The following courses are pre-requisite to each other, (see our enrollment strategy at right), building skills in a logical sequence to ensure your best outcome - the capability to guide groups in the outdoors, safely and competently. . . .
Whilst most people wish to study up to and including a Certificate IV, you may exit the stream (with an appropriate Qualification) at completion of each of the following courses;
Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation
Typically 6 to 12 weeks study time $1295.00 (5 activities)*
The Certificate II course involves participation in Abseiling, Rockclimbing, Canoeing, Kayaking and Bushwalking activities leading to the student assisting delivery of sessions with real clients. Academic training is largely conducted by self study of course materials and completion of assignments. The emphasis is on development of a base level of skill in activity participation and serves as a solid introduction to the Outdoor Recreation Industry in preparation for work experience leading to employment or further study at Certificate III.
Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation
Typically 6 to 12 months study time $2295.00 (3 activities)*
Certificate III training includes activity specific training for independent participation; ie the student will learn to rig abseiling/climbing rope systems, complete vertical rescues, learn to paddle to a high standard of technical capability and learn navigation and remote area skills that will enable them independent participation in these activities.
The student will develop their personal leadership capability at this level of training and will graduate only when they have successfully guided each of the activities that they are studying with real clients in a real business environment.
Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation
Typically 6 to 12 months study time $4400.00*
At Certificate IV you are training to manage clients in a broad range of sites and environments, for extended periods of time and where extreme environmental conditions may prevail.
You will learn remote area response capability and learn the detail of management of groups in the outdoors.
You will manage the development and implementation of a multiday or multi-activity program that you will run as your final assessment. Don’t worry though, after spending 12 months (plus) studying and working towards this, you’ll be well and truly ready.
Notes;
• * Prices shown are cumulative thus bringing the full cost of your Certificate IV to $7990.00. Fees will be calculated for students who meet the requirements to enter directly at Certificate III or Certificate IV according to pre-requisite units that they are required to study from Certifcate II or III. If you think that you might be able to commence study at Cert III or IV level directly, you are advised to submit an RPL application to ascertain your current level of capability and experience.
• Certificate II covers five activity areas. Certificate III is costed to include up to three activity areas but students may study up to five activity areas with additional cost for the extra activities chosen. Certificate IV, is based on your development of your prior studied activities.
• Other institutions which are similarly priced to our own are not geared to assist the student to develop the pre-requisite skills required at a Certificate IV level. This can lead to disappointment and possible failure of the student to complete training due to the difficulties of playing catch up whilst on course.
• We encourage students to seek work experience (or even gain employment) within an outdoor recreation business as they progress though the course. This is encouraged as it will increase your assimilation of the course materials and make your assessment in the field less dependent upon the daily guiding business of WorthWild. You will also gain a wider range of experience if you seek on the job opportunities with other providers.
